Woodlawn Student Council Receives Service Award

The Woodlawn Elementary School Student Council received the Youth Service Award for their volunteer work at the Schenectady City Mission.  "It was a great honor," said Debbie Borden, student council advisor and teacher.  "Our students love helping with the several ongoing projects, including service meals on Saturdays, bagging food with Weekend Blessings and clothing sort at the distribution center."  The center recently added a clothing room "Care N Share," named by the Woodlawn fifth graders.

The student council also partnered with Rosendale School to collaborate on projects at the distribution center.  They served meals together and enjoyed an evening field trip to the distribution center.
